An Apple Silicon macOS VPS is a macOS Tahoe virtual machine on Apple's M4 Max that you use remotely: for Xcode builds, iOS simulators, code signing and CI runners. This guide takes you from the order to your first build.

What you get

  • macOS Tahoe with an administrator account.
  • The vCPUs, memory, disk and network speed listed with your plan.
  • One IPv4 address and three snapshots.
  • Three ways to connect: the HyperDC Web Console, Apple Remote Desktop (ARD) and the HyperDC Remote Connect app.

Order your server

Compare the plans on the Apple Silicon macOS VPS page and press Order Now. Choose the billing term; longer terms cost less. After your order is paid we prepare the server and e-mail the login details.

Choose by what you build: larger projects and parallel simulators need more memory and vCPUs. You can move to a larger plan later, see upgrade or downgrade a service.

Connect for the first time

  1. Open Services › My Services in the client area and choose your server.
  2. Open the HyperDC Web Console: it needs nothing installed on your computer.
  3. Sign in with the details from the e-mail and change the password.
  4. For daily work, use Apple Remote Desktop or the HyperDC Remote Connect app.

More on the first hour in first steps on a macOS server.

Install Xcode

Install Xcode from the App Store or from Apple's developer site. Xcode 27 runs only on Macs with Apple silicon and needs macOS Tahoe 26.6 or later; check the active version in Terminal:

Bash
xcodebuild -version
xcrun simctl list runtimes

Verify: xcodebuild -version shows the release you installed.

Use it as a CI runner

Register the server as a self-hosted runner for GitHub Actions or GitLab, or as a Jenkins agent. The steps are in macOS server for iOS CI.

Use your snapshots

Take a snapshot before a big change such as a new Xcode or a macOS update, and go back to it if something breaks. Three snapshots are included. A snapshot is not a backup: keep your signing assets and projects somewhere else as well.

Troubleshooting

The order still shows Pending. The server is being prepared. We e-mail you as soon as it is ready.

Xcode refuses to install. Check Apple's Xcode system requirements against your macOS version and your free disk space.

Builds fail with "No space left on device". Delete old simulators and DerivedData, see macOS VPS and VDS, or move to a larger plan.

You cannot connect. See macOS server troubleshooting.

Frequently asked questions

Is an Apple Silicon VPS a physical Mac?

No. It is a macOS Tahoe virtual machine on an M4 Max: the vCPUs, memory and disk of your plan are yours. For a physical machine, see Mac dedicated servers.

How do I connect?

With the HyperDC Web Console in your browser, with Apple Remote Desktop or with the HyperDC Remote Connect app. Your login details come by e-mail when the server is ready.

Can I run Docker Desktop or the Android emulator?

No. These tools start their own virtual machines, and macOS guests on Apple silicon have no nested virtualization, so this line is a VPS.

What is included?

One IPv4 address and three snapshots. The vCPUs, memory, disk and network speed are listed with each plan.
