Internet radio troubleshooting: silence, DJs, listeners and uploads
Fix the usual HyperDC radio problems: a station off air, a silent AutoDJ, a DJ who cannot connect, refused listeners and an own domain that will not verify.

Most radio problems have a simple cause. Find your symptom and check the setting it names. On Air shows warnings and the last error at the top, and Settings holds the station's Logs.
The station is off air
The strip shows Off Air. Select Start. If it stops again, open Settings, read the Logs and select Restart.
AutoDJ is silent
- The strip says Nothing is playing yet. Add music to the Library.: upload music; see put your station on air.
- The Library counts tracks as failed: those files could not be read. The reason is under each title; upload them again in another format.
- A show plays an empty playlist or clock: check Schedule and What AutoDJ plays without a show in Programming; see AutoDJ, playlists and schedule.
A DJ cannot connect
- Check the DJ name and Password in Live, and that the account is Enabled.
- The DJ has Time slots: they may broadcast only in those. Remove the slots to allow any time.
- The DJ was kicked with a ban: wait until the ban ends.
- The encoder uses a port or mount that does not match its protocol: copy the Server, the port and the Mount again from Go Live.
Listeners are refused
- The station reached its listener limit: the plan's, or a lower Listener cap (0 = plan) in Settings.
- A rule under Listener access in Audience refuses them: Refused addresses and ranges, Refused players or Listeners per address.
- Signed links only (private station) is on: listeners need a link made with Make Signed Link.
Listeners hear it break up
The listener's connection is slower than the stream. Under Streams in Reach, add a stream with a lower Bitrate (kbps) for mobile listeners. Changing streams restarts the station; listeners reconnect.
Your own domain does not verify
The A record or CNAME of the name does not point to the station yet, or the change has not spread. Check the record, wait a while and select Check DNS again.
Next steps
- Start from the beginning: put your station on air.
- Live presenters: live DJs on your radio.
Frequently asked questions
Where do I see what went wrong?
On Air shows warnings and the last error at the top. Settings has the station's Logs.
Why does a new upload not play?
It may still be read in, or it could not be read: the Library then counts it as failed and shows the reason under its title.
How many listeners can my station have?
As many as your plan allows at once over all its streams. A lower Listener cap in Settings applies first.
