Your Linux hosting service installs the most used PHP applications in one click: PrestaShop, OpenCart, Joomla, Drupal, Moodle and Laravel. WordPress has a guide of its own: install WordPress on Linux hosting. If you chose an application when you ordered, it is already installed when your service is ready.

Before you start

Step 1: Start the installer

  1. Open Applications on your service page.
  2. Under Application catalogue, select Install next to the application.

Step 2: Fill in the form

  1. Choose the Website.
  2. Leave Folder empty to install at the root of the site, or enter one such as shop. Files already in that folder may be replaced.
  3. Fill in what the application asks for, such as the Site title, the Admin user, the Admin e-mail and the Admin password.
  4. Select Install. A new database is created for the application, and the installation shows Installing until it is done.

Verify: the state becomes Installed, and Open Site shows the application's start page.

What the installer sets up

ApplicationUse it for
PrestaShopAn online shop
OpenCartAn online shop
JoomlaA website or portal
DrupalA content-rich website
MoodleOnline courses
LaravelYour own PHP application

Besides the database and the files, the installer sets up the application's scheduled jobs, such as the schedulers of Joomla, Drupal, Moodle and Laravel, so they run from the server on time. They appear under Scheduled Tasks; see scheduled tasks on Linux hosting.

Rewrites in the applications' own .htaccess files work as they come, so friendly addresses work from the start.

Open and remove an application

The list under Installed applications has Open Site and Open Admin next to each installation. To remove one, select Remove, choose whether to Delete its files and Delete its database, then select Remove Application. This cannot be undone.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to create a database first?

No. The installer creates a new database for the application and writes its details into the application's settings.

Which PHP version should the site use?

The newest one the application's current release supports. Set it under Websites, Settings, before you install.

Do the application's scheduled jobs run by themselves?

Yes. The installer sets up the jobs the application needs, such as Moodle's cron and Laravel's scheduler, so they run from the server and not on page loads.

Can I install into a folder, such as /shop?

Yes. Enter the folder in the form; the application then opens at example.com/shop.
