What every VDS line shares

Nested virtualization

Every VDS line offers nested virtualization, so your server can run virtual machines of its own: KVM or Proxmox VE on Linux, Hyper-V and WSL 2 on Windows.

NVMe SSD storage

Linux, Windows and macOS VDS plans run on NVMe SSD storage, for databases, builds and virtual machines that wait on the disk.

More vCPU and memory

VDS plans are our higher tier, with larger vCPU and memory allocations than our VPS plans for busy databases and applications.

Root or administrator access

Root over SSH on Linux, Administrator over Remote Desktop on Windows, and Screen Sharing with SSH on macOS.

Unlimited bandwidth

Every plan lists unlimited bandwidth, so there is no traffic tier to choose when you order.

Backups included

Free weekly and monthly backups come with every plan. For data that changes every day, keep copies of your own as well.

Choose your location

Linux and Windows VDS run in the US, Europe and Asia, macOS VDS in the US and Europe; pick yours in the order form.

Extra disk space

Add disk space in the order form on every line, without moving to a bigger plan.

One client area

Servers, invoices and support tickets are managed in the same client area.

Databases

Give MySQL, PostgreSQL or SQL Server more memory for caching and NVMe storage for fast writes, on a server you tune yourself.

Build and test runners

Host GitLab, GitHub Actions or Jenkins runners with enough CPU and NVMe storage to keep pipelines short.

Online stores at peak times

Run WooCommerce, Magento or a custom store with caching and search on one server, with room for traffic peaks.

Start with a VPS, move to a VDS when you need more power or your own virtual machines, and choose a dedicated server when you need the whole machine.

Starting smaller, or need the whole machine?

VPS plans are the affordable way to start, including Apple silicon Macs on request. Dedicated servers give you every core.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Still have a question? Send us a message and our team will reply by email.
What is VDS hosting?

VDS stands for virtual dedicated server. We call a server a VDS when nested virtualization is available, so you can run your own virtual machines inside it. Our VDS plans also come with larger vCPU and memory allocations, NVMe SSD storage and root or administrator access.

What is the difference between a VPS and a VDS?

Both are virtual servers with root or administrator access, the same kind of images and the same locations. A VDS adds nested virtualization, so you can run your own virtual machines, Hyper-V, WSL 2 or emulators inside it, and comes with larger vCPU and memory allocations on NVMe SSD storage. A VPS is the affordable starting point.

Is a VDS the same as a dedicated server?

No. A VDS is a virtual machine: its vCPU, memory and NVMe storage are allocated to your server, in larger amounts than a VPS. A dedicated server is a whole physical machine that no one else uses. Choose dedicated when you need every core of the hardware or your own hypervisor on bare metal.

What can I do with nested virtualization?

Run software that needs the processor's virtualization extensions inside your server: KVM or Proxmox VE on Linux, the Hyper-V role or WSL 2 on Windows Server, emulators or test labs. Nested machines add some overhead, so try heavy workloads on your plan before you rely on them.

When should I move from a VPS to a VDS?

Move up when you need to run virtual machines or emulators inside your server, when your database or build jobs wait on the disk, or when memory runs short at peak times. Nested virtualization, NVMe storage and larger allocations give those workloads room.

Where can my VDS be located?

Linux and Windows VDS plans run in Dallas, New York, Los Angeles, Frankfurt, Helsinki, Istanbul or Singapore. macOS VDS plans run in Dallas, Los Angeles, Amsterdam or Frankfurt. You choose the location in the order form.

Which VDS should I choose?

Choose by operating system first: Linux for web stacks, databases and KVM or Proxmox VE labs, Windows for SQL Server, .NET and Hyper-V, macOS for large Xcode projects and CI. Then pick the plan size; you can move to a bigger plan later, or to a dedicated server when you need the whole machine.

Is a dedicated IPv4 address included with a VDS?

Linux and Windows VDS plans include one dedicated IPv4 address, so your server is reachable directly and you can point domains and SSL certificates at it. On macOS VDS plans, a dedicated IPv4 address is an option in the order form. Contact us if your project needs more addresses.

Are backups included?

Yes. Free weekly and monthly backups are included with every plan. For data that changes every day, also keep copies of your own, for example with an off-site backup tool, so you can restore exactly the version you need.

Can I get a refund on VDS plans?

Yes. VDS plans are covered by our refund policy: cancel within 30 days of payment and ask for a refund. For macOS services any setup cost is deducted from the refund, and payments made in cryptocurrency are final.

Which operating systems can I choose?

You can choose Ubuntu, Debian, AlmaLinux, Rocky Linux, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Oracle Linux, CentOS Stream, CloudLinux OS, Fedora Server, openSUSE Leap, SUSE Linux Enterprise Server, Alpine Linux, Arch Linux, Kali Linux, Gentoo, FreeBSD, OpenBSD, NetBSD, Windows Server, Windows (desktop), macOS and Proxmox VE. The list on this page shows every version we install, with its support status; the order form lists the images available for each plan.

Can I add a control panel?

Yes. You can run cPanel & WHM, Plesk Obsidian, DirectAdmin, CyberPanel, aaPanel, HestiaCP, CloudPanel, Virtualmin, Webmin, ISPConfig, FASTPANEL, Control Web Panel, ispmanager, SolidCP, Coolify, CapRover and Dokploy; each one is listed on this page with the systems it runs on. Panels in the order form show their price there.

Which billing cycles can I choose?

Every plan lists the billing cycles it is offered with. Switch the cycle above the plans to compare prices; longer cycles show the saving against monthly billing when there is one.

How do I pay?

Choose one of the payment methods offered at checkout. Every invoice also stays available in the client area, where you can pay it online.

Where do I manage my service after ordering?

Your service appears in the client area as soon as it is set up. From there you can manage it, pay invoices and open support tickets.
