Afterthought publishes no server hardware figures; these starting points follow common practice for 100-player Unreal Engine servers. Busy evenings with full servers need the right column.

Evrima settings and admin tools

Game.ini holds the settings of an Evrima server; admins and remote tools keep it running smoothly.

Evrima, not Legacy

The server’s evrima branch receives Afterthought’s updates; the default Legacy branch dates from 2022 and is no longer updated.

Admins by Steam ID

Add admins with their Steam IDs to AdminsSteamIDs in Game.ini.

RCON

Turn on bRconEnabled with an RconPort and RconPassword to manage the server remotely.

Join queue

bQueueEnabled with its own QueuePort lets players wait in line for a free slot.

Weather and humans

Switch dynamic weather on or off with bServerDynamicWeather, and allow the human mode with bEnableHumans.

Password

Keep the server private with bServerPassword and ServerPassword.

Frequently asked questions

Still have a question? Send us a message and our team will reply by email.
Evrima or Legacy: which server do I need?

Evrima. It is the branch Afterthought develops today, with patch 0.21 in August 2026 and monthly dev blogs. The default Legacy branch dates from 2022 and is no longer updated. Players must switch the game to the evrima branch on Steam too.

How many players can join a The Isle server?

Set MaxPlayerCount in Game.ini; community server templates allow 1 to 100, and the Steam store page speaks of servers for 100 players and more.

Which ports does the server use?

Community templates use 7777 for the game, 9999 for RCON and 10000 for the join queue. RCON and the queue only need their ports when you turn them on.

How do I add admins?

Add their Steam IDs to AdminsSteamIDs in Game.ini and restart the server.

Can I run the server with RCON?

Yes. Set bRconEnabled to true with an RconPort and RconPassword in Game.ini to manage the server with an RCON tool.

What does the join queue do?

With bQueueEnabled and a QueuePort, players who try to join a full server wait in line and get in when a slot frees up.

Can I turn humans or weather off?

Yes. bEnableHumans decides whether players may play as humans, and bServerDynamicWeather switches dynamic weather on or off.

Can I use mods?

Not yet. The Isle has no official mod support; Steam Workshop is listed only as a future goal on the store page.

Which species can players choose?

The roster changes with each Evrima patch. Recent updates added species such as Kentrosaurus, and the store page names Tyrannosaurus, Allosaurus and Dryosaurus among the playable dinosaurs.
