A full server deep into the game

Vector3 Studio publishes no server hardware figures; these starting points are for a Windows server with up to 15 players.

World, access and saves

A Sunkenland server is set with start parameters and two plain text lists.

Your world

The server cannot create worlds. Create one in the game, upload its folder and set -worldGuid to the part of the folder name after the ~.

Admins and bans

Put one SteamID64 per line into AdminSteamIDs.txt for admins and into BanSteamIDs.txt for banned players, both in the world folder.

Password and visibility

Protect the server with -password, up to 8 ASCII characters, or hide it from the list with -makeSessionInvisible.

Regions

Pick the region your players are in with -region; the server shows up in that region’s list.

Autosave

Since 0.8.40 the server saves every 600 seconds by default. There is no built-in backup, so keep copies of the world folder.

Custom save paths

Since 0.8.30, -steamID with a SteamID64 changes which save folder the server reads its worlds from.

Set up your Sunkenland server

Four steps to a world that stays afloat.

  1. Create your world

Start a world in the game; the server runs an existing world and cannot create one.

  2. Pick a location

Choose the one closest to your players from our 20 game server locations.

  3. Upload and configure

Upload the world folder, set -worldGuid, the region, player limit and password, and fill in the admin list.

  4. Invite your crew

Players open the server list for your region, find the server and join with the password.

Frequently asked questions

Still have a question? Send us a message and our team will reply by email.
Does Sunkenland have a dedicated server?

Yes. Vector3 Studio released the free Sunkenland Dedicated Server tool with update 0.200 in February 2024, and later updates keep fixing and extending it. It runs on Windows.

How many players can join?

Between 3 and 15, set with -maxPlayerCapacity when the server starts.

Can the server create a new world?

No. Create the world in the game first. Its folder is named after the world, a ~ and a GUID; upload that folder and set -worldGuid to the GUID after the ~. The server stops if it finds no matching world.

Where are Sunkenland worlds saved?

On Windows they are in AppData\LocalLow\Vector3 Studio\Sunkenland\Worlds of your user folder. Since 0.8.30, the -steamID option with a SteamID64 changes which save folder the server reads.

How do players find the server?

The server runs in the region set with -region: asia, cn, jp, eu, sa, kr, us for US East or usw for US West. Players open the server list of that region. -makeSessionInvisible hides the server from the list.

How do I add admins or ban players?

Write one SteamID64 per line into AdminSteamIDs.txt for admins, who may kick and ban, and into BanSteamIDs.txt for banned players. Both files live in the world folder.

What are the password rules?

-password accepts up to 8 characters. Use plain ASCII letters and numbers; other characters can fail the check.

How often does the server save?

Since 0.8.40 the default autosave interval is 600 seconds, and the interval can be changed. The server has no built-in backups, so keep regular copies of the world folder.

Can I use mods?

Sunkenland has no official mod support or Steam Workshop, so the server runs the game as Vector3 Studio ships it.

Does the server run on Linux?

The server is a Windows program. Community projects run it on Linux under Wine, which the developer does not support.

Is Sunkenland still updated?

Yes. The game is in Early Access; version 0.8.93 came out in October 2026, and recent updates include dedicated server fixes. Update the server together with the game so players can join.
