What a simulation server needs

These games run long sessions with few players but a lot of simulation: plan for the size of the world, not only the group.

CPU for factories and colonies

Factory, logistics and colony games calculate every belt, train and worker on the server. As the save grows, a fast CPU core keeps the game smooth.

Mods and map packs

Farming and truck simulators often use mod maps and vehicle packs. Keep disk room for them, and make sure every player has the same mods.

Small groups, long sessions

Most of these servers host a few friends or a club for many hours. Size the server for the mods and the save more than for the player count.

Saves worth protecting

A farm, factory or colony can hold hundreds of hours of work. Back up the save before updates, mod changes and big rebuilds.

Rules before the first session

Set the password, the admin and the game rules, such as economy or difficulty, in the server settings before you invite anyone.

A location near your group

These games forgive some latency, but a nearby server still feels better. Choose from our 20 game server locations.

Frequently asked questions

Still have a question? Send us a message and our team will reply by email.
How much RAM does a simulation server need?

Small sessions run with modest memory, while big factories and heavily modded farming maps need much more; the Satisfactory size table, for example, goes from 8 to 16 GB. Each game page shows its size table with sources.

Can we use mods on a simulation server?

Most simulation games support mods. Players usually need the same mods as the server, so share the list before the session. Each game page explains how mods are installed.

Can I continue my single-player save on a simulation server?

For many games, yes: upload the save and select it in the server settings. The game page explains where saves are stored and whether the game version must match.

Does the factory keep running when we log off?

The server stays online, but whether the game keeps simulating without players depends on the game. Satisfactory, for example, pauses an empty server until you turn off its auto-pause option.

How many players can join a simulation or strategy server?

Each game sets its own limit, and many simulation and strategy games are built for small groups: Satisfactory supports four players by default. Each game page lists its limit.

Which location should we choose for a simulation server?

The one closest to most of your group. Game servers run in 20 locations; for long sessions a nearby server keeps the game responsive.

Not sure which size fits your save?

Tell us the game, the size of your save and your mods, and our team will suggest a setup.
