Myth of Empires plans are being prepared
Tell us whether you want a single map or a cluster, how many players you expect and which mods you use, and our team will reply with the options. Or open a ticket and we will let you know when the plans are online.
How much does a Myth of Empires server need?
Myth of Empires is a large game. One map for a guild is the smallest setup; a cluster runs several server processes side by side.

Clusters, mods and administration
The official server tool sets up everything from one map to a full cluster.
Single map or cluster
A lobby server handles connections and character creation, scene servers are the counties, and optional battle servers host county, prefecture and fortress battles.
Two maps
Each scene server runs Middle Earth or East Earth.
Workshop mods
Enter the Steam Workshop mod IDs in the server tool, install them and tick them in the mod list to enable them.
GM accounts
List the Steam IDs of your game masters, separated by semicolons, to give them admin rights.
Remote management
Remote management is on by default and works with RCON tools on its own port.
Game rules

Learn moreFrequently asked questions
Can I host my own Myth of Empires server?
Yes. Myth of Empires supports official servers, custom servers, solo play and hosted games. Custom servers run with the server tool from the game files or the Myth of Empires Dedicated Server on Steam, which runs on Windows.
What is the difference between a single map and a cluster?
A single map is one scene server with a lobby. A cluster adds more scene servers, each a county, plus optional battle servers for county, prefecture and fortress battles, and a public server; peripheral servers need Redis.
Which ports does the server use?
Each server has a game port, a query port and a remote management port. Choose ports between 1024 and 65535 that are free, and give every server on the machine its own set.
Which maps can I run?
Each scene server runs Middle Earth or East Earth.
How do I add mods?
Enter the Steam Workshop mod IDs in the server tool, click Install and tick each mod in the mod list. The tool also detects mods that are already installed.
How do I make someone an admin?
Add their Steam ID to the GM accounts, separated by semicolons. Remote management with RCON tools is on by default for server-side commands.
Why must the server ID stay the same?
Saves are stored by server ID. If you change the ID, the server no longer finds its archive, so pick a unique ID once and keep it.
How do players join?
They open the custom server list in the game and find the server by its list name. Set a password if only your guild should join.
Which database does the server use?
SQLite by default, which needs no setup. Back up the server’s save data regularly, especially before updates.
How big are the battles?
Prefecture and fortress battles allow up to 20 players per side. They run on battle servers that players can enter after the set start time.
