Mordhau plans are being prepared

Tell us your game modes, slots and mods, and our team will reply with the options. Or open a ticket and we will let you know when the plans are online.

How big should a Mordhau server be?

Duel and deathmatch servers are light; 64-player Frontline battles with horses and siege weapons need the most. Single-core speed matters most.

Triternion publishes no server hardware figures; these starting points follow common practice for Unreal Engine servers of this size.

Modes, mods and server settings

Every mode

Frontline, Invasion, Horde, Skirmish, Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Battle Royale and Duel; every Horde map can still run on community servers.

Map rotation

Add MapRotation lines to Game.ini to set the maps and modes your server cycles through.

mod.io mods

Add mod IDs from mod.io as Mods lines in Game.ini; players download the mods automatically when they join.

Tune respawn times, horse and siege weapon respawns, damage and team damage in Game.ini.

Admins and bans

Set an AdminPassword so admins can log in, and keep banned players in Game.ini.

Frequently asked questions

Still have a question? Send us a message and our team will reply by email.
How many players can join a Mordhau server?

Mordhau matches hold up to 64 players. Set MaxSlots in Game.ini or with the -MaxSlots start option; the sample config starts at 16.

Which ports does the server use?

7777 for the game, 27015 for Steam queries and 15000 for the beacon port by default, set with -Port, -QueryPort and -BeaconPort.

Why are my Game.ini changes lost?

The server writes Game.ini again when it shuts down, so changes made while it runs are overwritten. Stop the server, edit the file and start it again.

How do I add mods?

Find the mod’s ID on mod.io and add it as a Mods line in Game.ini, one per line. Players download the mods automatically when they join a modded server.

How do I set the map rotation?

Add one MapRotation line per map and mode to Game.ini, for example a Frontline map followed by a Skirmish map. The server cycles through them in order.

How do I become an admin?

Set AdminPassword in Game.ini, then log in with that password through the game console on the server. Change the placeholder password before you start.

Can I still run Horde maps?

Yes. Triternion keeps every Horde map available for community servers, so you can host Horde nights for your group.

Can console players join my server?

Since June 2024 PC, PlayStation and Xbox players play together on official servers. Triternion has not documented console access to community servers, so plan your server for PC players.

Does the Linux server run every mod?

Not always: some mods only work on the Windows server. If your mod list needs them, run the Windows build.
