How big should a FiveM server be?
Scripts and streamed assets such as cars, maps and clothing decide most of the load, more than the slot count.

Cfx.re publishes no memory figures for the FiveM server; these starting points follow common practice. Above 48 slots you also need a paid Element Club tier.
txAdmin, frameworks and resources
Everything on a FiveM server is a resource; frameworks give roleplay servers their jobs, money and inventory.
txAdmin
The web panel that ships with the FiveM server, on port 40120. It deploys recipes and needs a linked Cfx.re account.
ESX, QBCore and Qbox
Community roleplay frameworks offered as txAdmin recipes. Qbox started in 2022 as a fork of QBCore.
Your own resources
Write resources in Lua, JavaScript or C#, each with its fxmanifest.lua, and start them with ensure in server.cfg.
OneSync
FiveM’s sync system: needed from 32 slots, and OneSync Infinity reaches up to 2048 slots on the top tier.
License key
A free key from the Cfx.re portal, set as sv_licenseKey; every server needs one.
Legacy or Enhanced
Run the established Legacy build, or try FiveM for GTA V Enhanced, in early access since July 2026.

Frequently asked questions
Is FiveM official?
FiveM is made by Cfx.re, which officially became part of Rockstar Games in August 2023. After RAGE:MP and alt:V shut down in 2026, it is the platform server owners were pointed to.
Do I need a license key?
Yes. Every FiveM server needs a free license key from the Cfx.re portal, set as sv_licenseKey in server.cfg or through txAdmin.
How many slots can my server have?
Up to 48 slots with OneSync are free. Paid Element Club tiers from Cfx.re raise the limit, up to 2048 slots with OneSync Infinity on the highest tier.
What is txAdmin?
The web panel that ships with the FiveM server, on port 40120 by default. It deploys recipes such as CFX Default, Qbox, ESX and QBCore and needs a linked Cfx.re account.
Which framework should I choose?
ESX, QBCore and Qbox are community roleplay frameworks; Qbox started in 2022 as a fork of QBCore. Pick the one your scripts are written for, because scripts are made for a specific framework.
Which ports does FiveM use?
30120 on TCP and UDP for the game, and 40120 for the txAdmin web panel. RCON stays off until you set rcon_password; protect txAdmin with a strong password.
How do players join?
Press F8 in FiveM and type connect followed by the address, or find the server in the FiveM server list. When no port is given, 30120 is used.
What happened to RAGE:MP and alt:V?
Both shut down in 2026 at Take-Two’s request and asked their server owners to move to FiveM.
Can I use GTA V Enhanced?
FiveM for GTA V Enhanced has been in early access since July 2026, with its own client launcher and server builds that run with OneSync. The Legacy build remains available.
Can I sell perks on my server?
Cfx.re requires paid resources and server perks to go through its accepted channels, with Tebex as the partner. Read the Cfx.re platform terms before you charge players.
