FOUNDRY plans are being prepared
Tell us your crew size, the update you play and your mods, and our team will reply with the options. Or open a ticket and we will let you know when the plans are online.
How much RAM does a FOUNDRY server need?
Factory size decides the load more than the crew. Update 4 reduced the dedicated server’s memory use, but large factories still need headroom.

Server tool, mods and updates
FOUNDRY is in Early Access and updates regularly; the dedicated server follows every update.
Official server tool
FOUNDRY: Dedicated Server is a free Steam tool for 64-bit Windows with its own launcher.
Steam Workshop
Since Update 1, mods come from the Steam Workshop; mods can depend on each other and some are client-only.
Mod check
The game warns players when their mods do not match the server or save they join.
Server browser
Players find dedicated servers in the in-game server browser, or play over LAN.
Pauses when empty
A dedicated server pauses while nobody is connected, so the factory waits for your crew.
Legacy branches
Branches for Update 1, 2.2 and 3.0 let a server stay on an older update until your crew moves on.

Frequently asked questions
Does FOUNDRY have a dedicated server?
Yes. FOUNDRY: Dedicated Server is a free tool on Steam for 64-bit Windows, updated with every major update; Update 4 in April 2026 reduced its memory use.
How many players can join?
There is no hard limit. The developers designed multiplayer for 2 to 4 players on one server, and larger groups are possible.
How do players join the server?
Through the in-game server browser, added in Update 1, or over LAN.
Can I use mods?
Yes. FOUNDRY supports the Steam Workshop. Mods can declare dependencies and some are client-only; the game warns players if their mods do not match the server.
Does the server keep running when nobody is online?
The server stays online, but the game pauses while nobody is connected, so nothing happens in your factory until someone joins.
Can I stay on an older update?
Yes. The server tool has legacy branches for Update 1, Update 2.2 and Update 3.0. Everyone must use the same version as the server.
Does the server need a graphics card?
No. A June 2025 hotfix fixed an error on dedicated servers running without a GPU, so the server runs on machines without one.
Is FOUNDRY finished?
No. FOUNDRY has been in Early Access since May 2024, with Update 4 Rails & Reactors in April 2026 and regular developer blogs since then. Keep the server on the same version as your crew.
