DayZ server hosting for your community

Run a DayZ server for the PC version on Chernarus, Livonia or Sakhal. Tune the loot economy, load Steam Workshop mods with their keys and set first- or third-person rules.

  • Chernarus, Livonia and Sakhal mission files
  • Central Economy: your loot in types.xml
  • Workshop mods with -mod and signature keys
  • First-person or third-person servers
PlayersSet maxPlayers in serverDZ.cfg. More players need more memory and CPU.
60 in Bohemia’s example config
PortsSet steamQueryPort in serverDZ.cfg and keep it fixed; otherwise DayZ picks a port and the server can be missing from the browser.

Mods and versions

Maps, economy and mods

The parts of a DayZ server you will change most.

Mission files

The template in serverDZ.cfg sets the map: dayzOffline.chernarusplus, dayzOffline.enoch for Livonia or dayzOffline.sakhal.

Central Economy

types.xml and the other economy files decide what spawns, where and how much. Bohemia publishes the default files.

Workshop mods

-mod loads mods that players need too, -serverMod mods only the server runs. Copy each mod’s .bikey into keys.

First or third person

disable3rdPerson in serverDZ.cfg turns a server into first person only.

Day and night

serverTimeAcceleration speeds up the day, from 0.1 to 64 times normal speed.

Persistence and wipes

Each server saves its world in its own storage folder; deleting that folder wipes the server.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Still have a question? Send us a message and our team will reply by email.
Can Xbox or PlayStation players join my server?

No. DayZ has no crossplay between PC and consoles, and community servers for Xbox and PlayStation are rented only from Bohemia Interactive’s console partner. A server here is for the PC version on Steam.

Which ports does a DayZ server use?

The game port is 2302/UDP, set with -port. The Steam query port is set with steamQueryPort in serverDZ.cfg; fix it for every server, because without it DayZ picks a port and the server may not show in the browser.

How many players can a DayZ server hold?

You set maxPlayers in serverDZ.cfg. Bohemia’s example configuration uses 60, the player count DayZ lists on Steam.

How much RAM does a DayZ server need?

Bohemia lists a dual-core CPU and 6 GB of memory as the minimum. Mods, a richer loot economy and more players need more, so start from the table above.

How do I install mods?

Load mods with -mod and server-only mods with -serverMod, and copy the .bikey file of each mod into the keys folder so the signature check passes. Players need every mod that is loaded with -mod.

How do I change the loot?

With the Central Economy files of the mission, such as types.xml for item counts and lifetimes. Bohemia publishes the default files; some changes only apply after the storage folder is reset.

Which maps can my server run?

Chernarus comes with the game. Livonia and Sakhal, the map of the Frostline DLC, have their own mission folders: dayzOffline.enoch and dayzOffline.sakhal.

Can I run a first-person-only server?

Yes. Set disable3rdPerson to 1 in serverDZ.cfg.

How do I wipe the server?

Stop the server and delete the storage folder of the instance, named after its instanceId. The world and the player characters start fresh.

Can I take donations on my server?

Bohemia Interactive publishes monetization rules for DayZ servers: server owners register and get approval, players who do not donate keep their access and gameplay advantages may not be sold. Read the current rules before you charge players.
