Among Us private server hosting with Impostor

Give your group or community its own Among Us region. Innersloth does not offer a dedicated server, so this runs Impostor, a well-known open-source server that players add as a custom region in the official game.

  • Impostor, the open-source Among Us server
  • Lobbies of 4 to 15 players
  • Server-side anticheat and plugin support
  • PC players by region link, mobile players over HTTPS

Among Us plans are being prepared

Tell us how many lobbies you run at once and whether mobile players join, and our team will reply with the options. Or open a ticket and we will let you know when the plans are online.

How big should an Among Us server be?

Impostor is a light .NET program. The number of lobbies running at the same time decides the load, not the size of one lobby.

Impostor publishes no hardware figures. These starting points follow from a light .NET 8 server; they grow with the number of lobbies open at once.

How an Impostor server works

Impostor replaces Innersloth’s servers for the players who add your region; the game itself stays the official one.

Open-source server

Impostor is a C# reimplementation of the Among Us server under GPLv3. Its main branch follows the latest Among Us version.

Custom region

On Windows, players add your server with the Open in Among Us link on Impostor’s site, or with a regionInfo.json file in the game’s data folder.

HTTPS for mobile

Phones connect over HTTPS, so the server’s HTTP service runs behind a reverse proxy with a certificate.

Anticheat

The built-in anticheat is on by default and bans a caught cheater from that game.

Plugins

Add plugins to change rules or add features; they are .NET libraries loaded by the server.

Version settings

Compatibility switches can let newer or mixed game versions join, but the project does not recommend them.

Set up your Among Us server

Four steps to your own region in the server list.

  1. Pick a size

Count the lobbies you run at the same time and choose from the table above.

  2. Pick a location

Choose the one closest to your players from our 20 game server locations.

  3. Set the public address

Set PublicIp in config.json to the address players connect to, and put HTTPS in front of the HTTP service for phones.

  4. Add the region

Players add your server as a custom region, choose it in Among Us and create or join a lobby.

Frequently asked questions

Still have a question? Send us a message and our team will reply by email.
Is there an official Among Us dedicated server?

No. Innersloth runs the official servers itself. A private server runs Impostor, an open-source reimplementation of the Among Us server that is not made by Innersloth; players keep using the official game.

How do players connect to the server?

They add it as a custom region. On Windows, the Open in Among Us button on Impostor’s site adds it, or a regionInfo.json file in the game’s data folder does the same. Then they pick the region in the game.

Can mobile players join?

Yes, when the server supports HTTPS. Impostor’s documentation asks for a reverse proxy with a certificate in front of the HTTP service so phones can connect.

Can console players join?

Impostor’s documentation describes custom regions for PC and mobile only. We cannot promise that Switch, Xbox or PlayStation players can add a custom region.

Which ports does Impostor use?

Port 22023 over both protocols: UDP for the game, which every player must reach, and TCP for the HTTP service that recent Among Us versions use to connect.

How many players fit in a lobby?

Among Us is played with 4 to 15 players per lobby. One server can run several lobbies at the same time.

Which Among Us versions does Impostor support?

The main branch supports the latest Among Us version; older releases remain available but are less supported. After a big game update, the server may need a new Impostor release before players can join.

Is there an anticheat?

Yes. Impostor’s server-side anticheat is on by default, and BanIpFromGame bans a caught cheater from that game instead of only kicking them.

Can I use mods with the server?

Impostor supports server plugins. Client mods that turn off some server checks only work with AllowHostAuthority, which is off by default and not recommended by the project.
