Jitsi Meet hosting for private video meetings
Jitsi Meet runs video meetings in the browser and in its mobile apps, with screen sharing, chat and no account needed for guests. Run it on your own HyperDC server with your domain and TLS, sized to Jitsi’s recommendations, preinstalled as an app option or installed with our guide.

Jitsi Meet plans are being prepared

How big a server does Jitsi Meet need?
Every video stream passes through the videobridge, so CPU and bandwidth grow with the people in meetings at the same time.

Jitsi recommends 8 GB of RAM and four dedicated cores, with 4 GB enough for small meetings; Prosody uses a single core, so clock speed matters. Plan bandwidth generously: it is the main limit.
Video meetings on your own domain
Share a link and start: guests join from the browser or the Jitsi Meet app, and the meeting runs on your server.
No installs for guests
Meetings open in any modern browser, with screen sharing, chat, raised hands and breakout rooms.
Only your people start meetings
Turn on secure domain or JWT authentication so only signed-in hosts create rooms, and use the lobby to admit guests.
Room to scale
Add more videobridges on further servers when meetings grow, and keep recording with Jibri on machines of its own.
Dedicated IPv4 address
Linux and Windows VPS plans include a dedicated IPv4 address for your domain, your TLS certificate and your firewall rules.
Root access, your rules
Every Linux VPS, VDS and dedicated server comes with full root access: you choose the versions, the add-ons and the security settings.
Locations on three continents
Run your server in the United States, Europe or Asia, close to the people who use it. The order form estimates the latency from where you are to each location.
Room to grow
Start on a VPS and move to a bigger plan, a VDS with NVMe storage or a dedicated server when your data and users grow.
Preinstalled or with our guide
Choose the app as an option when you order and it is installed for you, or set it up yourself with our step-by-step guide.
Set up Jitsi Meet in four steps
Order the app preinstalled on your server, or install it yourself with our guide.
-
Choose your server
Pick the size from the table above with Debian 12 or 13 or Ubuntu 24.04, in the location closest to most participants.
-
Point your domain
Create an A record such as meet.example.com for the server before you install; the installer needs it for the certificate.
-
Install Jitsi Meet
Choose Jitsi as an app option, or add Jitsi’s package repository and install jitsi-meet with our guide; it requests a Let’s Encrypt certificate.
-
Secure it and start a meeting
Open UDP 10000 and TCP 443, turn on secure domain so only your hosts create rooms, then open your domain and start the first meeting.
Step-by-step setup guides
Install, secure and update the app with our guides, written for current Ubuntu and Debian releases.

How to install Jitsi Meet with Docker and Let's Encrypt
Deploy Jitsi Meet from the official docker-jitsi-meet release, get HTTPS from Let's Encrypt, require a login to create rooms and keep the server updated and backed up.

Set up SSH keys for your server
SSH keys replace passwords with a key pair that cannot be guessed. Create one, install it on your server and test it before you turn passwords off.

Frequently asked questions
How many people can join a meeting?
There is no fixed number: every participant’s video passes through the videobridge, so the server’s bandwidth and CPU set the limit. For bigger meetings, ask people to turn off video when they are not speaking, lower the default resolution, or add more videobridges.
Why does Jitsi need UDP port 10000?
Audio and video travel over UDP 10000 between participants and the videobridge. If it is blocked, calls with three or more people fail. A TURN server on 3478/UDP and 5349/TCP helps guests whose networks block UDP.
How do I stop strangers from creating meetings?
By default anyone who opens your domain can start a meeting. Turn on secure domain in Prosody so hosts sign in to create rooms while guests still join without an account, or use JWT tokens from your own application.
Can I record meetings?
Yes. Jibri records or streams one meeting at a time and needs its own machine with at least 8 GB of RAM. For occasional recordings, participants can also record locally in the browser.
Packages or Docker: how should I install Jitsi?
The Debian and Ubuntu packages from Jitsi’s repository are the simplest way on a dedicated server or VPS for Jitsi alone. docker-jitsi-meet fits a server that already runs other containers; it publishes the web interface on ports 8000 and 8443 by default, behind your reverse proxy.
Do the mobile apps work with my server?
Yes. In the Jitsi Meet app for iOS and Android, set your server address in the settings. The apps need a valid certificate; self-signed certificates do not work.
