# Create an account and place your first order

> Open a HyperDC account, choose a plan, configure the location and operating system, check out and find your login details once your service is ready.

Difficulty: Beginner\
Tested on: HyperDC client area

Ordering at HyperDC takes a few minutes: you choose a plan, configure it, create your account (or sign in) and pay the first invoice. This guide walks you through each step and tells you what to check before you press the last button.

## Before you start

- **Know what you need.** A server line (VPS, VDS or dedicated), a hosting plan, a domain or an SSL certificate. If you are unsure which server line fits, read [VPS vs VDS vs dedicated server](/guides/vps-vs-vds-vs-dedicated-server) first.
- **Pick a location close to your users.** See [choose a data center location](/guides/choose-a-data-center-location) and our [data centers](/data-centers).
- **Use an email address you check.** Invoices, the welcome email with your login details and security notices go there.

## Step 1: Choose a plan

Open the product page that matches your project, for example [Linux VPS](/linux-vps-hosting), [Windows VPS](/windows-vps-hosting), [macOS VPS](/macos-vps-hosting), [dedicated servers](/dedicated-server-hosting), [Linux web hosting](/linux-web-hosting) or [domain registration](/domain-register). Compare the plans and select the order button of the one you want. You can start with a smaller plan: servers can move to a bigger plan later from the client area.

## Step 2: Configure the plan

The order form opens on the **Configure** step. The options depend on the product; for servers you usually choose:

- **Billing cycle.** Monthly or a longer term. The price for each cycle is shown in the form.
- **Location.** The data centers available for this plan. Some order forms show an estimated latency from your location to each data center.
- **Operating system.** Choose a current long-term release, such as Ubuntu 24.04 LTS or 26.04 LTS, Debian 13 or Windows Server 2025, unless your software needs an older one.
- **Server details.** Many server plans generate a **Server hostname** (for example `srv12345678.host`), **Nameservers** and a secure root password for you: "Generated securely. You will find it in your welcome email." If the form shows **Use my own hostname & nameservers** or **Set my own root password**, you can replace these values. Your own root password must meet the requirements listed under the field.
- **Extras.** Control panels, additional IP addresses or more resources, where the plan offers them. Paid extras show their price in the form.

**Verify:** the summary next to the form shows the plan, cycle and extras you picked, and the total updates as you change them.

> **Tip**
>
> Need a domain for the new server? The order form can add one. You can also order the server first and point a domain you already own to it later, see [point a domain to your server](/guides/point-domain-to-server).

## Step 3: Review the cart

Continue to the **Cart** step. Check each item, remove what you do not need and enter a code in **Promotional Code** if you have one. **Total Due Today** is what the first invoice will ask for.

## Step 4: Sign in or create your account

On the **Details** step:

- **Already Registered?** Sign in with your email address and password. If two-factor authentication is on, enter the code from your app.
- **Create a New Account.** Enter your name, email address, a strong password and your billing address. Taxes follow the billing address, so enter it as it should appear on invoices. Company name and tax details can be added too.

After registering, we send an email to confirm your address. Click the link in it. You can keep using the client area while the address is not yet verified, but verify it soon: it protects your account and makes sure our messages reach you.

## Step 5: Choose a payment method and complete the order

On the **Payment** step, choose how you want to pay. The list shows the methods available for your account and order, which may include card payments, your account credit and crypto payments with HyperDC Pay. Read the [terms of service](/legal/terms-of-services), confirm that you accept them and select **Complete Order**.

**Verify:** the confirmation page shows your order number, and an order confirmation email arrives. An invoice for the order is created at the same time.

## Step 6: Pay the invoice

Pay the invoice right away to start the setup. If you leave the page, you will find the invoice under **Billing › My Invoices**. See [pay your first invoice](/guides/pay-your-first-invoice) for each payment method, and [pay an invoice with crypto](/guides/pay-invoice-with-crypto) for HyperDC Pay.

## Step 7: Wait for the welcome email

Once the invoice is paid, most services are set up automatically. When the service is ready, we send a welcome email with the details you need:

- **Servers:** the IP address, the user name (`root` on Linux, `Administrator` on Windows) and the password, or the connection details for macOS.
- **Web hosting:** the control panel address, your user name and the nameservers to use for your domain.
- **Domains:** a confirmation of the registration. For new generic domains, the registrant also receives a verification email that must be confirmed within 15 days.

The service also appears in the client area under **Services › My Services**, where you can open it to see its details.

## Troubleshooting

**The order stays Pending.** The order is processed after the invoice is paid. Check **Billing › My Invoices** for an unpaid invoice. If it is paid and nothing happens for a while, some orders are reviewed by our team before setup; open a ticket with your order number if you need the service by a certain time.

**The promotional code is rejected.** Codes can be limited to certain products, billing cycles, new customers or dates. Check the conditions of the promotion, or try the cycle the promotion mentions.

**The root password I typed is refused.** The form lists the rules under the field, such as length, the character types required and characters that are not allowed. Use the **Generate** button or adjust the password until every rule is met.

**No welcome email.** Check the spam folder and the account menu › **Email History**, which lists every email we sent you. The service page under **Services › My Services** shows the IP address and user name.

## Frequently asked questions

### Do I need an account before I order?

No. You can create the account during checkout: choose Create a New Account on the Details step. If you already have one, choose Already Registered? and sign in, so the new service joins your existing services and invoices.

### How long does it take until my service is ready?

Most services are set up automatically once the invoice is paid, and we email the login details when the service is ready. Some orders are checked by our team before setup, and dedicated servers follow the delivery time shown for their configuration.

### I did not receive the verification email. What now?

Check the spam folder first. The link in the email is valid for a limited time; sign in to the client area and request a new verification email from the notice at the top of the page. You can use the client area while the address is unverified.

### Can I change the location or operating system after ordering?

The operating system can be reinstalled later, which erases the server. A different location means a new server and a move of your data. Choose both carefully in the order form, and ask us before ordering if you are unsure.

### Where do I find the root or Administrator password?

In the welcome email we send when the server is ready. If you set your own root password in the order form, use that one. The service page in the client area shows the IP address and user name.
