On this page
Each domain you register or transfer to HyperDC has its own page in the client area. From there you decide where the domain points, protect it from unwanted transfers and keep its registration current. This guide goes through each setting.
Before you start
- Sign in to the client area and go to Domains › My Domains.
- Know where your DNS is hosted: with your hosting plan, a server control panel, a DNS provider such as Cloudflare, or with the domain's default nameservers. See DNS basics if you are unsure.
Open the domain page
In Domains › My Domains, select the domain, or choose Manage Domain from its menu. The page shows the status, the registration and expiry dates, the Registrar Lock status and Auto Renew. Tabs and management tools give access to the settings below. If the domain is not Active, most settings are not available until it is.
Change the nameservers
Nameservers decide which DNS servers answer for your domain.
- Open the Nameservers tab.
- Choose Use default nameservers, or Use custom nameservers (enter below) and enter at least two nameservers, for example those from your hosting welcome email or from Cloudflare.
- Select Change Nameservers.
Verify: after a while, check the delegation from your computer:

dig NS example.com +shortWindows
Resolve-DnsName example.com -Type NSThe answer lists the new nameservers once resolvers have refreshed their cache. The new DNS host must already hold every record you need (website, email, verifications) before you switch, or those services stop working.
Turn on auto renew
Open the Auto Renew tab and select Enable Auto Renew. A renewal invoice is then created automatically before the expiry date. Keep a valid payment method or account credit, and keep your email address current so reminders reach you. To renew early or for more years, use Renew Domain on the domain page or Domains › Renew Domains.
Protect the domain with the Registrar Lock
Open the Registrar Lock tab. Enable Registrar Lock prevents transfers to another registrar. Disable it only when you are about to transfer the domain away, and enable it again if you change your mind. A notice "Domain Currently Unlocked!" reminds you when the lock is off.
Get the EPP code to transfer away
To move the domain to another registrar, you need its authorization (EPP) code. Use Get EPP Code in the domain's management tools. Depending on the extension, the code is shown on the page or sent to the registrant email address. Keep it private: whoever has the code can start a transfer. Note that generic domains usually cannot be transferred within 60 days of registration or a previous transfer.
Update the contact information
Contact Information holds the registrant, administrative, technical and billing contacts. Keep the registrant email address current: renewal and transfer notices go there. After you change the registrant's name, organisation or email, generic domains may be locked against transfers for 60 days, and the new email may need to be verified.
Register your own nameservers
To run nameservers under your own domain, such as ns1.example.com, the registry needs their IP addresses (glue records). Use Register Nameservers in the management tools: Register a NameServer Name with its IP address, Modify a NameServer IP or Delete a NameServer. Make sure a DNS server actually runs on that address before you point domains at it.
Verify: dig +short ns1.example.com returns the address you registered.
DNS records, email forwarding and ID protection
- DNS Management and Email Forwarding appear on the domain page only where they are enabled for your domain. When they are not available, manage records at your DNS host, for example in your hosting control panel.
- ID Protection under Addons replaces your contact details in public registration data with those of a privacy service, where the extension allows it. Some extensions do not allow privacy services.
Troubleshooting
The nameserver change is rejected. The nameservers must exist and answer for your domain. Check their spelling, and for your own nameservers register them first (see above).
The domain stopped working after a change. The new nameservers do not hold the records yet. Add the A, AAAA, MX and TXT records at the new DNS host, or switch back while you prepare them. See DNS not resolving.
I cannot change anything on the domain page. The domain may be pending, expired or suspended for an unverified registrant email. Check for a verification email and for unpaid renewal invoices.
Get EPP Code shows nothing. For some extensions the code is emailed to the registrant. Check that inbox; if nothing arrives, open a ticket.

Frequently asked questions
How long does a nameserver change take?
The client area notes that changes can take up to 24 hours. In practice resolvers pick up new nameservers once the cached delegation from the registry expires, which is often faster but can take up to a day or two.
Should the Registrar Lock be on?
Yes, unless you are transferring the domain to another registrar right now. The lock stops transfers you did not approve.
Where do I edit A, MX or TXT records?
Wherever your DNS is hosted. If the domain uses your hosting plan's nameservers, edit the records in the hosting control panel. DNS Management appears on the domain page only where it is enabled for your domain.
Why do I have to confirm my email after changing the contact details?
For generic domains, ICANN rules require the registrar to verify the registrant email address after a new registration, a transfer or a change of registrant. Click the link in the verification email, or the domain can be suspended until it is verified.
What happens if I turn auto renew off?
No renewal invoice is created automatically, and the domain expires at the end of its term unless you renew it by hand. Keep auto renew on for domains you need.
