Stationeers plans are being prepared
Tell us your crew size, world and how big your base will grow, and our team will reply with the options. Or open a ticket and we will let you know when the plans are online.
How big should a Stationeers server be?
The atmosphere simulation is the heaviest part of a Stationeers server, so base size matters as much as crew size.

RocketWerkz publishes no server hardware figures; the community wiki recommends 16 GB or more and 6–8 cores for busy servers because atmospherics are CPU-heavy. These are starting points.
Worlds, settings and remote admin
Everything you set on a Stationeers dedicated server, from the world you start on to the commands you run.
Six worlds, four difficulties
Start a station with -file start, a world such as Lunar, Mars2 or Europa3 and a difficulty from Creative to Stationeer.
Launch settings
Pass ServerName, ServerPassword, ServerMaxPlayers and the ports with -settings; the wiki prefers this over editing setting.xml.
Remote admin
Set the same ServerAuthSecret on the server and in your game, then run commands from the F3 console with serverrun.
Autosave and pause
AutoSave writes the world every SaveInterval seconds, 300 by default, and AutoPauseServer pauses the station when nobody is online.
Hidden servers
Set ServerVisible to false to keep the server out of the list; players then connect directly to the address and port 27016.
Workshop and mods
The game supports Steam Workshop content; code mods use the community tools StationeersLaunchPad and BepInEx.

Frequently asked questions
How many players can join a Stationeers server?
ServerMaxPlayers sets the limit and defaults to 10. The developer’s guide allows 1 to 30, while the community wiki advises not going above 20.
Which ports does the server use?
UDP 27016 is the game port (GamePort) that players connect to. UDP 27015 is the update port (UpdatePort). There is no RCON port; remote admin works through the game itself.
How do I run admin commands?
Set the same ServerAuthSecret on the server and in your own game’s setting.xml. Then open the F3 console and put serverrun before a command, for example serverrun save. HELP lists every command.
Which commands are there?
Among others: save, kick and ban with a client ID, cleanupplayers to remove dead or disconnected players, say, pause, status, and stormbegin or stormend. The Gases update of March 2026 added an announce command that shows a popup to everyone online.
How do I start a new world?
Start the server with -file start, a station name, a world ID such as Lunar, Mars2, Europa3, MimasHerschel, Vulcan2 or Venus, and a difficulty: Creative, Easy, Normal or Stationeer.
Can I continue my existing station?
Yes. Station saves are folders in the server’s saves directory. Copy your station there and start the server with -file start and the same station name; it loads that station’s latest save.
How does saving work?
AutoSave is on by default and writes the world every SaveInterval seconds, 300 by default; the wiki advises not going below 60. The save command writes at once, and AutoPauseServer pauses the world while nobody is online.
How do I kick or ban a player?
Use kick or ban with the player’s client ID. Bans go into a blacklist in the save path; ban refresh reloads it after you edit it.
Does the Linux server have special requirements?
Yes. Since the networking change of January 2026, the Linux server needs glibc 2.40 or newer; the community wiki recommends Debian 13 or Ubuntu 25.04 and later.
Is Stationeers still being updated?
Yes. The game is in Early Access, and 2026 brought the Multiplayer, Gases, Sanitation and Power Line updates, with many dedicated server fixes. Update the server together with the game so players can join.
