Rules, mods and backups
Most Soulmask server settings are launch arguments; gameplay balance lives in one JSON file.
PvE or PvP
Start the server with -pve or -pvp to set the rules for every tribe on it.
Gameplay multipliers
GameXishu.json in WS/Saved/GameplaySettings tunes gathering, experience, damage and more.
Workshop mods
Load mods with -mod and their IDs. Mods are made with the official Soulmask Modkits and players enable the same ones before joining.
Passwords and admins
-PSW sets the join password and -adminpsw the admin password that unlocks the GM panel in game.
Saves and backups
-saving and -backup set how often the world is saved and backed up; backups sit next to the world file.
Maps and DLC
Run the main map or the Shifting Sands desert map from the 1.0 DLC.

Learn moreFrequently asked questions
Is there an official Soulmask dedicated server?
Yes. Soulmask has two free Steam tools: the dedicated server for Windows (app 3017310) and the one for Linux (app 3017300). Both install with an anonymous SteamCMD login.
How many players can join a Soulmask server?
The server sets its own limit with -MaxPlayers. The game’s built-in online hosting is meant for up to 8 players, so larger groups use a dedicated server.
Can I choose PvE or PvP?
Yes. Start the server with -pve or -pvp; the choice applies to everyone on it.
How do I become an admin in game?
Set an admin password with -adminpsw. In game, open the console, enter gm key followed by that password, then use the GM panel to become admin.
Can I use mods?
Yes. Soulmask supports the Steam Workshop, with mods made in the official Soulmask Modkits. List the mod IDs with -mod on the server; players enable the same mods before they join.
How do I change rates such as gathering or experience?
Edit GameXishu.json in WS/Saved/GameplaySettings and restart the server. It holds the gameplay multipliers for the whole world.
How are saves and backups handled?
The world is saved as world.db under WS/Saved/Worlds/Dedicated, with a backup folder beside it. -saving and -backup set the save and backup intervals in seconds.
Can the server run the Shifting Sands map?
Yes. Shifting Sands, the desert DLC released with version 1.0 in April 2026, comes with its own map that a server can run instead of the main one.
Is Soulmask still updated?
Yes. Version 1.0 arrived in April 2026, the Beyond Gravity update in August 2026 and regular patches since. Update the server whenever the game updates.
Can console players join?
No. Soulmask is a PC game on Steam; there is no console version.
