How much RAM does a Smalland server need?
A Smalland world holds up to 10 players, so creatures, bases and the explored area decide the load more than player count.

Frequently asked questions
How many players can join a Smalland server?
Up to 10. Smalland multiplayer is built for groups of up to ten players in one world.
Is there an official Smalland dedicated server?
Yes. Since January 2024, the Smalland: Survive the Wilds Dedicated Server is a free Steam tool (app 808040) for Windows and Linux.
Can console players join my server?
Yes. Crossplay between Steam, Epic, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series arrived in May 2025, and since then dedicated servers also appear in the console server browser. The Switch 2 version followed in May 2026.
Where do I change the server settings?
In the start-server script that comes with the server. Its options set the server name, world name, password, private mode, friendly fire, peaceful mode, keep inventory, deterioration and the length of days and seasons.
Can I make the world easier or harder?
Yes. Peaceful mode removes the threat of hostile creatures, and modifiers for creature health and damage, nourishment and fall damage fine-tune the challenge.
How do I keep strangers out?
Set a password, so only players who know it can join, or mark the server private to keep it out of the public list.
Does the server need Steam to run?
The server is installed from Steam, but players meet through Epic Online Services, which is what lets PC and console players share it.
Can I use mods?
No. Smalland has no official mod support; the server options are how you shape your world.
Is Smalland still updated?
The game reached 1.0 in February 2024. The Wyrdweaver update arrived in April 2026, the Switch 2 version in May 2026, and the studio has since announced Smalland 2: Lost Realms.
