Install sizes come from the game definitions of our server platform. The suggested disk adds room for updates, saves and backups; modpacks and large maps need more.

What a roleplay server needs

A roleplay city is a game server, a set of scripts and a database working together. Plan all three.

Frameworks and scripts

Roleplay servers run on frameworks and scripts, such as ESX or Qbox on FiveM. Every script adds memory and CPU time, so keep the list lean.

A database for your world

Characters, inventories and properties are usually stored in a MySQL or MariaDB database. Back it up together with the server files.

Slots for your community

Each platform sets its own slot limit, from small whitelisted towns to large public cities. Check the game page for yours.

Whitelists and staff ranks

Most roleplay communities whitelist players and give staff ranks through the framework’s permissions. Plan your ranks before you open the doors.

Watch script performance

One slow script can slow down the whole city. Watch the server’s performance and replace scripts that use too much time.

A location for your community

Choose the location where most of your players live from our 20 game server locations.

Which roleplay platforms can I host?

GTA V roleplay with FiveM and txAdmin, RedM for Red Dead Redemption 2, Garry’s Mod roleplay modes, and the classic GTA: San Andreas platforms SA-MP and Multi Theft Auto.

How much RAM does a roleplay server need?

It grows with your scripts, custom maps and players. The size table for GTA V with FiveM goes from 4 to 16 GB, and Garry’s Mod from 2 to 8 GB. Each game page explains what changes the need.

Does a roleplay server need a database?

Most roleplay frameworks keep characters, inventories and properties in a MySQL or MariaDB database. Check your framework’s documentation for the version it needs.

Can I run a whitelisted roleplay server?

Yes. FiveM and RedM servers can whitelist players through txAdmin or the framework, and Garry’s Mod servers can use a password and admin addons. Many communities combine the whitelist with an application form.

How do players join my roleplay server?

FiveM and RedM players connect through the Cfx.re client with your server address or its listing, and Garry’s Mod players use the server browser or the connect command. Each game page explains the steps.

Which location should my roleplay community use?

The one closest to most of your players. Game servers run in 20 locations; a city with players on several continents usually picks the region where most of them live.
