The developers publish no server hardware figures; these starting points are our estimate for a Source engine server. Disk follows the catalogue install size plus room for maps and updates.

Modes, maps and server tools

A classic Source engine server with everything that comes with it.

Objective maps

Survivors complete tasks that change from round to round and reach the extraction zone before time runs out.

Survival maps

The team defends zones against waves of zombies, with supply drops along the way and extraction if the zones hold.

Workshop and custom maps

No More Room in Hell supports the Steam Workshop and includes level editing tools, so your rotation can grow beyond the stock maps.

SourceMod

Metamod:Source and SourceMod support the game, for admin menus, map votes and other plugins.

rcon

Set rcon_password in server.cfg and change maps or kick players remotely.

  3. Edit server.cfg

Set hostname, a password if you want one and rcon_password, and choose the start map, for example nmo_broadway.

  4. Gather your survivors

Players find the server in the browser or connect from the console with the address and port 27015.

Frequently asked questions

Still have a question? Send us a message and our team will reply by email.
How many players can join?

No More Room in Hell is a co-op game for up to eight players. Set the limit with -maxplayers when the server starts.

Which ports does the server use?

Only UDP 27015 is needed for play. RCON runs on TCP 27015; open it only if you use remote administration.

Which game modes are there?

Objective, where survivors complete changing tasks and reach the extraction before time runs out, and survival, where they defend zones against waves until extraction arrives.

Does the server run on Linux?

Yes. The dedicated server is available for Windows and Linux. On Linux, run it as a normal user rather than root.

Can I use SourceMod?

Yes. Metamod:Source and SourceMod list No More Room in Hell among their supported games, so you can add admin tools, map votes and other plugins.

Can I run Workshop and custom maps?

Yes. The game supports the Steam Workshop and ships with level editing tools, so community maps can join your rotation next to the stock maps.

Which map does the server start with?

The one you set with +map, for example nmo_broadway. Change maps later with the map and changelevel commands.

How do I administer the server?

Set rcon_password in cfg/server.cfg and send commands such as changelevel and kick with rcon. Players can also vote to kick; sv_votekick_timer sets the vote time.

Do players need to buy the game?

No. No More Room in Hell is free to play on Steam for Windows and Linux.
