Icarus server hosting for your prospecting crew
Keep your Icarus prospects running for a crew of up to eight. The official dedicated server from RocketWerkz waits in a lobby, loads the prospect or outpost you choose and can continue an Open World you started on your own PC.

Icarus plans are being prepared
Tell us your crew size and whether you play Open World, missions or outposts, and our team will reply with the options. Or open a ticket and we will let you know when the plans are online.
How much RAM does an Icarus server need?
A server holds up to eight players, so the prospect type and how much your crew has built matter most. Long-running Open World prospects grow the most.

- A big Open World base
RocketWerkz publishes no server hardware figures; these starting points follow common practice for Icarus servers. Large Open World bases need the most memory.
Prospects, outposts and server settings
The Icarus server works like a shared lobby: your crew picks what to play, and the server keeps it ready.
Open World
A persistent prospect that keeps your bases and progress; the Steam store recommends dedicated servers for it.
Missions and outposts
Timed missions start from scratch; outposts are persistent bases you can return to between missions.
Bring your own prospect
Copy a prospect file from your PC to the server’s Prospects folder without renaming it, and your crew carries on where you left off.
Start a prospect automatically
Use CreateProspect, LoadProspect or ResumeProspect in ServerSettings.ini so the server opens straight into your world.
Passwords and admin rights
Set a JoinPassword for your crew and an AdminPassword for /AdminLogin. Limit who may launch or delete prospects.
Lobby timers
ShutdownIfNotJoinedFor and ShutdownIfEmptyFor return the server to the lobby after 5 minutes without players by default.

Four steps from drop pod to a shared prospect.

Frequently asked questions
How many players can join an Icarus server?
Up to 8. Set MaxPlayers between 1 and 8 in ServerSettings.ini.
Which ports does the server use?
17777 for the game and 27015 for Steam queries by default. Change them with the -PORT and -QueryPort launch options.
How does the server lobby work?
The server starts in a lobby. Players pick or create a prospect or outpost, and when nobody joins or the prospect stays empty for 5 minutes, the server returns to the lobby. Both timers can be changed, and negative values keep the prospect running.
Can I move my local prospect to the server?
Yes. Copy the prospect file from %LocalAppData%\Icarus\Saved\PlayerData\ followed by your Steam ID and \Prospects to the server’s Saved\PlayerData\DedicatedServer\Prospects folder. Do not rename the file.
How do I become an admin?
Set AdminPassword in ServerSettings.ini and type /AdminLogin with the password in the chat. If AdminPassword is empty, anyone who runs /AdminLogin gets admin rights, so always set one.
How do I name the server?
Use the -SteamServerName launch option, up to 64 characters. The SessionName setting in ServerSettings.ini currently has no effect.
Can the server start a prospect on its own?
Yes. ResumeProspect, on by default, continues the last prospect at start. LoadProspect opens a named prospect, and CreateProspect starts a new one with type, difficulty from 1 to 4, a hardcore flag and a save name.
Who can launch or delete prospects?
By default anyone can create or load a prospect, while deleting one needs an admin. Change this with AllowNonAdminsToLaunchProspects and AllowNonAdminsToDeleteProspects.
Does the server run on Linux?
The official server is a Windows program. Linux hosts run it under Wine or in community container images.
How often does Icarus update?
RocketWerkz ships weekly updates. Update the server with SteamCMD app 2089300 together with your crew, so the versions match.
