Empyrion server hosting for your galaxy

Build ships and bases across a whole galaxy with your crew or a public community. Eleon’s dedicated server runs every planet and space sector as its own playfield and loads Workshop scenarios such as Reforged Eden.

Empyrion plans are being prepared

Tell us your player count and the scenario you play, and our team will reply with the options. Or open a ticket and we will let you know when the plans are online.

How much RAM does an Empyrion server need?

Every planet or sector that players are on runs as its own playfield server process. The number of occupied playfields decides the load more than the player count.

Eleon publishes no server hardware figures; these starting points count one process per occupied playfield and grow with large scenarios.

Scenarios, playfields and administration

The dedicated server reads its settings from a dedicated.yaml file and starts playfield servers as players need them.

dedicated.yaml

Server name, password, player limit, public listing and save folder, plus the game name, mode, seed and scenario.

Workshop scenarios

Point CustomScenario at the scenario folder; SharedDataURL lets players download its shared data from a link.

Playfield servers

Each occupied planet or sector runs as its own process; Srv_ReservePlayfields keeps spares ready.

Empyrion Admin Helper

The admin tool that comes with the server; use it while the server is stopped.

Easy Anti-Cheat

EACActive switches EAC on or off; EAC only works on Windows servers.

DLC content

EnableDLC: true makes the Dark Faction scenario and other DLC content available on the server.

Frequently asked questions

Still have a question? Send us a message and our team will reply by email.
Which ports does an Empyrion server use?

The GamePort set in dedicated.yaml and the next three ports, over TCP and UDP; most setups use 30000 as the game port. The Telnet port, 30004 by default, is for local administration and should never be opened to the internet.

How do I set the player limit and password?

In the ServerConfig section of dedicated.yaml: Srv_MaxPlayers for the limit, Srv_Password for a private server and Srv_Public to choose whether it appears in the server list.

Can I run a Workshop scenario like Reforged Eden?

Yes. Copy the scenario into the server’s scenarios folder under a simple folder name and set that name as CustomScenario in dedicated.yaml. For large scenarios, Eleon recommends SharedDataURL, a link to a zip of the scenario’s shared data that players download.

What are playfield servers?

Every planet or space sector with players on it runs as its own process, EmpyrionPlayfieldServer. That is why memory grows when players spread out. Srv_ReservePlayfields keeps spare processes ready for the next warp.

How do I add admins?

With the Empyrion Admin Helper (EAH), which comes with the dedicated server. Eleon’s guide says to use it while the server is stopped.

How do I enable the Dark Faction DLC?

Set EnableDLC to true in dedicated.yaml. It is needed for the Dark Faction scenario and other DLC content.

Can I turn Easy Anti-Cheat off?

Yes. EACActive in dedicated.yaml switches EAC on or off. Keep it on for public servers; EAC only works when the server runs on Windows.

Does the server run on Linux?

Not officially. Eleon supports the dedicated server on Windows; some players run it on Linux, but EAC does not work there.

Can I play the experimental version?

Yes. The server has an experimental branch, which in October 2026 carries version 1.20 while 1.19 is the public release. Players must use the same branch as the server.

Where are the saves?

In the SaveDirectory set in dedicated.yaml, in a folder named after GameName. Give every game its own GameName so saves do not overwrite each other.
