Assetto Corsa plans are being prepared

Tell us whether you run races or freeroam, how many cars and which tracks, and our team will reply with the options. Or open a ticket and we will let you know when the plans are online.

How big should an Assetto Corsa server be?

Car slots, AI traffic and the size of your track mods decide the load. Freeroam servers with traffic need the most.

Kunos publishes no server hardware figures. These starting points are derived from the small server install and common race and freeroam setups; large track mods need more disk.

acServer, AssettoServer and CSP

Choose the server software that fits your nights: official races or community freeroam.

Official acServer

Kunos’ Assetto Corsa Dedicated Server (Steam app 302550) runs practice, qualifying and race sessions and registers in the Kunos lobby.

AssettoServer

A community server built for freeroam, with AI traffic from fast_lane.ai splines, Steam authentication, plugins and Windows and Linux builds.

Custom Shaders Patch

Require a minimum CSP version to join, and use WeatherFX for smooth weather changes on AssettoServer.

Cars and skins

entry_list.ini lists every car slot with its model and skin; server_cfg.ini sets the track, time and weather.

Admins and whitelist

On AssettoServer, admins listed in admins.txt can kick, ban, send cars to the pits, change time and weather and whitelist Steam IDs.

Set up your Assetto Corsa server

Four steps from the pit lane to a full grid.

  1. Choose races or freeroam

acServer for sessions and results, AssettoServer for freeroam with traffic. Then pick the size from the table above.

  2. Pick a location

Choose the one closest to your drivers from our 20 game server locations; low ping matters on track.

  3. Upload cars and tracks

Add the track to the content folder, list your cars in entry_list.ini and set the sessions and weather in server_cfg.ini.

  4. Join from the lobby

Find the server in the online list or Content Manager, or share the server’s invite link.

Frequently asked questions

Still have a question? Send us a message and our team will reply by email.
Which ports does an Assetto Corsa server use?

TCP and UDP 9600 for the game, and TCP 8081 for the HTTP port. If the log shows “INVALID SERVER, CHECK YOUR PORT FORWARDING SETTINGS”, the registration in the Kunos lobby failed because a port is not reachable.

What is the difference between acServer and AssettoServer?

acServer is Kunos’ official dedicated server for practice, qualifying and race sessions. AssettoServer is a community project built for freeroam: it adds AI traffic, Steam authentication, CSP weather and plugins, but it does not support race and qualifying sessions with lap times yet.

How many cars can join?

One per entry in entry_list.ini. Each [CAR_X] entry sets the car model and skin of a slot, so the number of entries is the number of drivers who can join.

Can I use mod cars and tracks?

Yes. Upload the track to the server’s content\tracks folder and add the cars to the entry list. Every driver needs the same cars and track installed in their game to join.

Can I require Custom Shaders Patch?

Yes. Set a minimum CSP version for joining, for example through Content Manager’s Require CSP to join option. Dynamic weather on AssettoServer needs CSP 0.1.76 or newer.

Can I run freeroam with traffic?

Yes, with AssettoServer. Turn on EnableAi in extra_cfg.yml, add the track’s fast_lane.ai or fast_lane.aip spline and mark the traffic slots as AI in entry_list.ini.

How do I manage players?

On AssettoServer, admins use chat commands such as /kick, /ban, /pit, /settime, /setweather and /whitelist. Steam IDs in admins.txt are logged in as admins automatically.

Which operating systems does the server run on?

The official server from Steam (app 302550) is a Windows program, acServer.exe. AssettoServer has builds for Windows and Linux.

Do I need Content Manager?

No, but most drivers use it. Content Manager is a community launcher that lists servers, joins them by invite link and checks the required CSP version.
