American Truck Simulator Convoy server hosting

Keep a Convoy session open for your trucking crew, without anyone hosting it from their own game. SCS Software’s official dedicated server runs your map DLCs and mods, your traffic and damage rules and a moderator list.

  • Official ATS dedicated server from SCS Software
  • Up to 8 drivers in one Convoy session
  • Your map DLCs and mods through server packages
  • Traffic, damage, collision and speed limiter rules
Drivers8 is the hard limit of a Convoy dedicated server, set with max_players in server_config.sii.

ATS plans are being prepared

How big should an ATS Convoy server be?

A Convoy server holds up to eight drivers and is light to run; the map, mods and traffic settings make the difference.

SCS Software publishes no server hardware figures. These starting points are derived from the small server install, the eight-driver limit and the default traffic settings.

Map DLCs, mods and session rules

The server needs no game files of its own: your game exports the map, DLC and mod setup it should run.

Server packages

server_packages.sii and server_packages.dat carry the map, DLC and mod setup exported from your game; the server needs no DLC data of its own.

Session rules

Traffic, player damage, collisions in company areas and service stations, a forced speed limiter and name tags are all set in server_config.sii.

Moderators

Steam IDs in moderator_list become moderators when they join and can change the time and the rain from the chat.

A steady server ID

A Steam login token created for the game keeps the same server ID between restarts, so drivers can search for it directly.

No game on the server

The dedicated server downloads anonymously with SteamCMD and starts without the game, on Windows or Linux.

Set up your ATS Convoy server

Four steps from your garage to a convoy on the road.

  1. Export your server packages

Turn on the console in config.cfg, load your profile and run export_server_packages to save your map, DLC and mod setup.

  2. Pick a location

Choose the one closest to your drivers from our 20 game server locations.

  3. Set your session rules

Upload the packages and edit server_config.sii: lobby name, password, traffic, damage and your moderator list.

  4. Join the convoy

Find the session in the Convoy browser, or search for it with the search ID the server shows at start.

Frequently asked questions

Still have a question? Send us a message and our team will reply by email.
How many drivers can join an ATS Convoy server?

Up to eight. max_players in server_config.sii has a hard limit of 8 for a Convoy dedicated server.

How does the server get my map DLCs and mods?

Through server_packages.sii and server_packages.dat. Set uset g_console "1" in config.cfg, load your game and run export_server_packages in the console; the files mirror your DLC and mod setup and are not tied to your account. The server cannot use the Steam Workshop itself.

Which ports does the server use?

connection_dedicated_port 27015 and query_dedicated_port 27016, both over TCP and UDP, for the Steam session browser. The virtual ports 100 and 101 are internal and need no forwarding.

Do I need a Steam login token?

No, but it helps. Without one, the server logs in anonymously and gets a new server ID at every start. A token from Steam’s game server account page, created for the game’s app ID (270880), keeps the ID the same; put it in server_logon_token.

How do players find the session?

In the Convoy session browser, or with a direct search for the search ID the server prints at start. The server does no NAT punching, so it needs a public address to show in the browser.

How do I make someone a moderator?

The server has no interface, so list their Steam IDs in moderator_list in server_config.sii; they become moderators when they join. Moderators can use /set_time, /set_rain_factor and /help in chat.

Which session rules can I set?

Among others: player_damage, traffic, hide_in_company, hide_colliding, force_speed_limiter, service_no_collision, in_menu_ghosting, name_tags, timezones and mods_optioning, which keeps optional mods really optional.

Do I need to own the game to run the server?

No. The dedicated server (Steam app 2239530) downloads anonymously with SteamCMD and runs without the game. You only need the game to export the server packages.

Is it the same server as Euro Truck Simulator 2?

It works the same way, but each game has its own server app: 2239530 for American Truck Simulator and 1948160 for Euro Truck Simulator 2.

Does the server update itself?

No. SteamCMD does not update the server on its own, so update it after each game patch. Check server.log.txt in the server folder if a session does not start.
